Charlie Cooper

Hello, I’m Charlie! I am from Westchester county, New York and spend most of my time in Durham, North Carolina. Currently, I am a student at Duke University studying biology and Visual Media.

I first started photography in November of 2017 when I was 13. I’ve always loved wildlife and, after seeing a commercial on TV of a wildlife photographer in the Arctic, I begged my parents for a camera. When I first picked up a camera a few months later, I couldn’t put it down. I would run around my neighborhood, taking photos of geese, robins, deer or anything else that looked cool. Over time, I have been lucky enough to travel to some amazing places in search of wildlife and unique landscapes. I also was fortunate enough to have taken a gap year before starting college, which exposed me to many unique cultures. I spent time in Ghana where I co-founded a youth basketball and character development program in Accra. Through this year, I discovered my love for meeting new people and trying to capture the essence of unique cultures.

Along with wildlife and cultural photography, I recently began with sports photography. I applied for an internship with the Duke Mens Basketball team and began working for them for the 2024-25 season.

I am so excited to learn and grow in the world of photography and I am happy to have you follow along on my journey!
